In 2025 we focused on the 90+ Northern Nevada families already living with HD — funding the UC Davis clinic that is their lifeline. Here is the year-in-review and what it means for 2026.
Two years in. Two sold-out tournaments. Over $50,000 raised. Two causes chosen. Two direct impacts on real people in our community.
Here is the honest record of where NVforHD has been — and where we are going on May 29, 2026.
2024: How It Started
The 2024 inaugural tournament at Old Greenwood Golf Club in Truckee was built from scratch. No established donor base. No track record. Just a mission, a golf course, and a community that showed up.
It sold out.
$25,000 was raised and transferred in full to HelpCureHD. That money went to Brandon and Rylee Puccini — a young Northern Nevada couple carrying the HD gene who could not afford IVF. Rylee is now pregnant with an HD-free baby.

"Year one proved the concept. One community. One cause. One day of golf. One family's future permanently changed."
2025: Shifting Focus to the Families Already in Need
In 2025, NVforHD made a deliberate choice: to shift focus from preventing future HD (IVF) to supporting the families already living with the disease.
The beneficiary: UC Davis Huntington's Disease Center of Excellence, Sacramento CA.
The rationale: Over 90 Northern Nevada families are currently living with HD. They make a 130-mile drive to Sacramento for specialist care because there is no equivalent clinic in Nevada. That clinic operates on private donation. It needed us.
What the 2025 proceeds funded:
The UC Davis HD Center team includes 2 neurologists, 2 psychiatrists, 1 genetic counselor, 1 social worker, 2 physical therapists, and 3 research coordinators — all dedicated to HD. NVforHD's contribution went directly to operational funding — keeping this team staffed and accessible.

The Board's Assessment of Year Two
From Sean Schaeffer, NVforHD founder:
"The 2025 tournament confirmed what 2024 showed us: this community shows up. Two sold-out events in two years, $50,000+ raised, and two causes directly served. But more importantly — Christine's clinic is still running. The people who have dedicated their careers to helping our family, and 90 others like us, are still there. That is what this tournament pays for."
2026: Back to UC Davis — with More Urgency
In 2026, NVforHD returns to UC Davis as its beneficiary. The clinic's private funding needs are ongoing. The families who depend on it are not going away.
The goal for 2026: exceed 2025. More golfers. More sponsors. More funds reaching the clinic.

May 29, 2026. Gray's Crossing Golf Club. Truckee, CA.
The venue is better. The cause is the same. The need is greater.
What You Can Do
Play golf: Register for May 29 at Gray's Crossing — foursomes at $880, singles at $220. Sold-out years two in a row means early registration matters.
Donate: Donate directly — from $100. 100% goes to UC Davis. Zero overhead.
Sponsor: Put your business on the course — Title, Gold, Lunch, and Hole Sign packages available. Deadline April 30.
Share: Tell someone about this tournament. Tell someone about HD. Tell someone about the 90 families in Northern Nevada who need this clinic to stay funded.
That is how $50,000 becomes $100,000. That is how one sold-out year becomes a decade of them.
We will see you on May 29.
